Introduction:

One week before class began, I walked into the multi-million dollar, brand new, 21st century classroom where I would soon be teaching. A brand new interactive white board, audio devices to amplify my voice, wireless clickers, student tablets to project students’ ideas on the whiteboard, multiple computers, high speed wireless Internet, a fl at screen to watch school news, and even a telephone that ran through the computer were available to use. I had everything I needed and more! However, after a few months of teaching, I realized that I was not running the technology, but it was running me. It was time for a classic CTRL + ALT + DELETE in order to re-focus on the purpose of the technology, which was to help students learn.
